What is the deadline?
The application period closes at midnight (PST) on Sunday, November 4, 2018.
Is there an application fee?
What specifically do I send for the various fellowships?
Please send a cover letter, a short writing sample (10-20 pages, double-spaced, 12 pt), and a proposal (no more than two pages) for how you’d like to contribute to The Believer and/or BMI, as per the service requirements described above. We only accept submissions through Submittable. Finalists will be asked to send copies of their books.

When will I hear?
Applicants will be notified no later than March (2019) with a status update.
Who reviews these applications?
Candidate selection will be made by an advisory committee, comprised of community stakeholders, graduate students, and our staff.
How much time am I expected to spend in Las Vegas?
The expectation is that you'll be in Las Vegas for the full term of your fellowship, with exception; approved travel as part of your fellowship, major holidays, and more.
Where would I live and what would it cost?
We have a variety of housing options in downtown Las Vegas, brokered through partnerships and more. BMI will cover your rent but utilities, including WiFi, are the responsibility of the fellow.
Is health insurance included?
Unfortunately, no. UNLV health center has an excellent drop-in clinic and pharmacy, where you can see a nurse practitioner or a physician. Whether or not you have insurance, you are eligible to use this clinic.
Do I need a car in Las Vegas?
Getting around is a lot easier if you have car in Las Vegas. We strongly encourage bringing a vehicle if you have it; however, it’s not requirement to be a fellow.
I don’t have a driver’s license. Can I get by?
Rideshares (Lyft and Uber), bike share, and public transportation are available if you do not have a driver’s license.
